Terms of Use
Plain terms for a quiet place. By using Wren, you agree to these. If you don’t, please don’t use the app. We’ve kept them short and readable on purpose.
1. Who can use Wren
You must be 18 or older to use Wren, and you confirm this when you begin. Wren is not for children.
2. Your anonymous account
Wren gives you a randomly assigned handle and an anonymous account — no name, email, or password required. You’re responsible for what happens through your account on your device. An optional recovery email lets you move your account to a new device; that’s the only way to recover it.
3. Your letters and replies
Your words are yours. You keep ownership of what you write. To run the service, you grant Wren a limited license to store your content and deliver it — anonymously — to other users and back to you, and to screen it for safety. You’re responsible for what you write, and you agree not to post anything unlawful or that violates someone else’s rights.
4. Treating each other well
Wren only works if it’s kind. You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, bully, or abuse another person.
- Post content that is illegal, hateful, or sexually exploitative — especially any content involving minors, which is never tolerated and is reported to authorities.
- Encourage or instruct others to harm themselves or anyone else.
- Try to identify, contact off-platform, or de-anonymize another user.
- Spam, advertise, scrape, or use bots or automated access.
- Impersonate anyone, or interfere with the app’s security or operation.
5. Moderation and removal
Every letter and reply is screened before delivery. We may remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that break these terms or put people at risk — with a reason where we can give one. Reports, blocks, and mutes are available on anything another person wrote.
6. Crisis and safety
When content signals a crisis, Wren surfaces real, human-run helplines immediately — never AI, never behind a paywall. Wren cannot and does not provide emergency intervention, and because it’s anonymous, we cannot locate users. In situations involving a specific, credible, imminent threat to someone’s safety, or content involving child endangerment, we may act and report to the appropriate authorities as the law requires.
7. Membership and payments
Being heard is free, forever — writing, replying, deleting, breaks, and every crisis resource. Membership is optional and only adds extras for people who want to give more. Purchases and subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms; subscriptions renew until you cancel, which you do in your app store. Refunds follow the store’s policy. Founding memberships are a one-time purchase.
8. The app is provided “as is”
We work hard to keep Wren running and safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we don’t guarantee that any particular reply will arrive from any particular person. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Wren is provided “as is,” without warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
9. Ending your use
You can delete your account and all its content at any time, from inside the app. We may suspend or end access that violates these terms or endangers others.
10. Changes
We may update these terms; we’ll update the effective date and, for material changes, note it in the app. Continuing to use Wren after a change means you accept it.
